CHATTERIS, Cambridgeshire. UK

Pigment liner and black ink in large moleskin sketchbook

This morning, after taking my eldest into school, I parked up in Chatteris and made my way towards the benches opposite Jubilee Gardens. Here I sat and took in the morning facing a clock and a funeral parlour...A gentle reminder to make the most of every minute perhaps?

That's what the art historians call a memento mori I believe. Looks like you've used a wash as well as line on that...is that the black ink from Ely? Very nicely done, whatever it is!

Yes Dave, this is the ink...added to water inside a water brush pen. So far it's staying moist, nib/brush end too so it's working as I hoped. It was very handy today, I took just my moleskin, my pigment liner and the brush pen along and was able to get some quick form with the ink.
Memento mori sounds so much more glamourous than Jubilee gardens. ;)

NIcely done drawing. I really like the composition and yes the clock and funeral home would make you think on your own life.
