JONES'S FARM, March, Cambridgeshire. UK

On Saturday I visited Jones's farm and took my sketchbooks along. The views from the yard were much the same as they are from my home; sheets of various greens, blues and yellows splayed out into the horizon, only Jones's farm had a few more buildings and trees in the distance.
As I walked up towards the yard along the dusty trail that guides the way from the gate, I looked back and decided that would be my finishing sketch.
The yard had plenty of treats in store for me, the first of them being a really old, rundown, brick barn, the subject in my first sketch of the day.

Moving my chair around to the other side of the yard gave me shelter from the breeze as I sat beside a wall of hay bales. As I sketched a weasel shot out in front of me, making his way towards the opposite field. I would love to have captured a sketch of him but bionic I am not!

My final sketch was as I had decided earlier in the day, the view back to the gate along the dusty road track.

A wonderful post! I love that old brickbarn...the colors are just beautiful with a great atmosphere coming form the dark window..Love the other two as well..the winding road with the homestead in the distance...great work, like always! The view you have from your home sound beautiful..inspiring?

Three more lovely sketches. The composition of the last sketch is very pleasing, and I like the feeling of old, crumbling bricks that you've created in the first one.

These are all beautiful, Anita. You'll soon have enough for a book on the Fens. I was reminded of Miss B Potter as I imagined you and the badger crossing paths at Jones' farm.

These are all wonderful - but I think my favorite is the old barn. Beautifully done.

Thankyou Ronell. The Fens certainly grow on you, I can't imagine living in a built up area now.
